
Natália Almeida Antunes
Natália Almeida Antunes is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Pre-clinical & Translational Neuroscience group and Lab Manager at TBIO | Health Research Network (RISE-HEALTH). She is also a Neuropsychologist and a member of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists (OPP), holding a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Psychological Neuroscience (2024), a dual Master’s degree in Neurocognitive Processes and Affective Sciences (University of Minho and University of Lille, 2018), and a Postgraduate degree in Clinical Neuropsychology and Neuropsychological Intervention (2020).
Her research focuses on the mechanisms of memory regulation and compulsive behavior, and she was a pioneer in studying memory suppression in young adults with binge drinking. Natália combines cognitive neuropsychology, EEG, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and cognitive training to investigate how cognitive control processes can modulate behavior. She is also exploring the relationship between physiological changes and the gut–brain axis.
She has served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minho and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, and has extensive clinical experience in neuropsychological assessment and intervention.
