Pedro Coelho’s expertise lies in the investigation of cancer metabolism and angiogenesis, particularly the obesity-melanoma relationship
Pedro Coelho’s research activities revolve around cancer metabolism,
angiogenesis, and vasculogenic mimicry, with a specific focus on
unravelling the molecular mechanisms that underlie the complex
relationship between obesity and melanoma. Until 2022, Dr Coelho was an integral member of the Metabesity research group at the Institute of
Research and Innovation in Health (i3S), affiliated with the University
of Porto. Currently, he has joined the Center for Research on
Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Research, where he
continues his scientific endeavours.
Throughout his career, Dr. Coelho has published a total of twelve scientific articles in reputable international journals with impact factor. His authored or co-authored research papers have garnered a total of 135 citations, resulting in an h-index of 8. Additionally, he actively contributes to the scientific community by regularly serving as a peer-reviewer for scientific journals such as Pigment Cell & Melanoma Research, Cancers, and Healthcare.
