Carla Guedes

PhD Student

Carla Guedes (LG) graduated in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences from the School of Health of the PoIyterhnir Institute of Bragan/a and a Master’s in Clinical Analyses and Public Health — Microbiology and Public Health from the School of Health of the PoIyterhnir Institute of Porto. She is a Neuroscience PhD student at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto. After such period, LG was a scholarship researcher at Porto Research, Technology and Innovation Center (PORTIC) Porto PoIyterhnir Institute, having participated in several projects in different research areas, with activities in Virology, molecular biology, microbiology, and well culture analyses and procedures. 
Currently, CG is the Lab Manager at the Research Center for Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Research (TBIO) of the School of Health of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and is also an invited Assistant Professor at the same institution. At the end of 2022, given the interest in inflammation and neurosciences, CG was integrated into a research team in ‘Experimental Neurodegeneration Biology’, aiming to explore the role of neuroinflammation in the initiation and progression of Parkinson’s disease and how the gut-brain axis may be a player on such process/mechanism.
