The Human Factors and Cognition Lab is dedicated to the study of complex tasks and the development of solutions to improve human performance. Through simulations and evaluations in a controlled environment, the lab offers alternatives for dealing with issues related to human factors and decision support systems in multiple scenarios, including industrial environments. The laboratory is strategically positioned to meet the challenges of the increasingly complex joint operations and crisis management situations that characterise today’s world. Given the fundamental need for research aimed at increasing human performance in various contexts, there is an urgent need to collect reliable variables that can provide predictive modelling and diagnostic support both at an individual level and using aggregated team data. The lab’s team of experts has established strong external links, enabling collaborations from the conceptual to the implementation of practical solutions that help improve the performance of individuals and teams in complex contexts.
