João Rufo

João Cavaleiro Rufo is an Adjunct Professor at E2S | P. Porto and an Integrated Researcher at the Center for Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Research. As an expert in asthma metabolomics and etiology, he has led studies on various exposure factors and potential disease biomarkers, including the profiling of the airway microbiome and exhaled breath volatile organic compounds. João completed his PhD in Occupational Safety and Health, with Cum Laude distinction, awarded by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Having published over 100 articles in international journals, he frequently serves as an expert for reputable scientific societies and supernational institutions, such as the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the European Commission.
