Inês Pais

Research Assistant – MSc Student

Orthoptist dedicated to the study of ophthalmologic, neuro-ophthalmologic, and neurodegenerative diseases, exploring their impact on both ocular and cortical levels. Inês Pais has achieved her degree in Orthoptics at School of Health of the Polytechnic University of Porto in 2021, and her MSc in Biomedical Research (Vision Sciences) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra in 2023. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedicine and Health Sciences (PhDBCS) at the School of Medicine, University of Minho, Portugal. Inês is an invited assistant at School of Health of Porto and a member of the Centre for Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Research (TBIO)/Health Research Network (RISE-HEALTH). Additionally, she is an orthoptist grader at Coimbra Ophthalmology Reading Centre - Association for Innovation and Biomedical Research on Light and Image (AIBILI). Inês has developed a diverse range of interests within Ophthalmology and Neuro-Ophthalmology. She has been participating in research studies focusing on Diabetic Retinopathy, Age-related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, as well as neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Her research also extends to diseases of the optic nerve, chiasm, and retrochiasm.
